Welcome to the 5th Annual Oshkosh Dragonboat Races

I cannot believe we are entering our 5th year of dragonboating in Oshkosh. It seems like just yesterday we were explaining dragonboating to the Oshkosh community and asking people to help us create an Oshkosh tradition.

There's so much new to share! First, we have published our new webpage conveniently found at our old address: oshkoshdragonboat.com Please let us know what you think and if there are other things you'd like added!

Next, we welcome a new team to the 2010 races: Team Bailey for Epilepsy. Bailey's family and friends are excited to support the both the festival and Epilepsy research by participating in this year's races.

Finally, we've opened up 2010 registration. Is your team signed up yet? Register now at oshkoshdragonboat.com

More news from the Oshkosh Dragonboat Club

If you are a dragon boat enthusiast from the last three Fall Fest dragon boat races, or if you just are wanting to learn, the Oshkosh Dragonboat Club might be for you.

The club is open to UW Oshkosh students, faculty, and staff, as well as anyone from the Oshkosh community.  It is an opportunity to meet weekly and enjoy the sport of dragonboat racing on the Fox.  We meet every Saturday all summer and into the fall as well, culminating with the Dragonboat Races during Fall Fest.

Some have been wondering if they are on a dragonboat team team, whether they are now able to practice as a team on the new boat.  We are developing a rate structure that will address that as we have fixed costs of the steers that would need to be available for your practice.  Be watching for an announcement on how you may rent some time for your team.  Now that we have a boat, we plan to make it available.

Also, some are wondering if they are on a team if they can join the club.  Yes, the club is open to anyone.  Existing teams and individuals, but you join as an individual.  The cost for the joining is $50 for the season for non-students (UWO students are $25), and buys you a great recreation time on the water every Saturday morning during the season!

If you want more information, see the club's web site below.

Join us on May 9th at 9 a.m. at the Aquatic Center for our first Dragonboat Club meeting of the summer!

The Oshkosh Dragon Boat Club

Spring is here and we are waking the dragon!  The new Oshkosh dragon boat will be coming out of hibernation and onto the Fox River this week.

Itching to get out on the water? The first meeting of the Oshkosh Dragon boat club is set for Saturday, May 9 at 9 a.m.  If you are interested in becoming a member, training to be a steersperson or just having fun with people who like to paddle - this club is for you!

The dragon boat club will have meetings once a week from May through October.  Those who join this year will be able to take part in approving a working constitution and electing officers. The club will also work to train our own steers people as well as form a competitive team that will race in our own event and possibly travel to other races in our region.

For more information about the meeting or the dragon boat club, contact Randy Hedge at 920/424-2346, hedge@uwosh.edu or visit the new website at: http://www.oshkoshdbc.com/
